Shareride is a platform that offers the best ride sharing services to passengers and drivers. As a passenger, you have the option of choosing from variety of cars and drivers that suits you. This is possible because drivers are rated by passengers after a ride; hence, you can make your decision on the driver to ride with based on the aforementioned rating and comments about the driver by previous passengers by viewing the profiles of the drivers. As a female passenger, you can have access to our female drivers if you desire to ride with a female driver.

This platform is also open to travellers who desire to allot unoccupied seats in their car to passengers travelling to the same direction with them. If you are one of such riders, you can plan your trip and offer these services in accordance with your plan. In the same vein, passengers can get a convenient ride by checking out the available ride offer on the platform by contacting the driver via a messaging platform.

On booking the service, the passenger makes payment for reservation of seat. In the event that the ride is cancelled by the driver, the passenger funds will be refunded in accordance with our cancellation and refund policy.

In order to help users of this platform, we recommend that you rate the person you rode with after riding as you are expected to be rated by the person you rode with.

GENERAL

The terms and conditions contained herein govern your access and use of www.shareride.co.uk including any content and services offered through this website. It is important that you read these terms and conditions carefully. This website is owned and operated by Shareride LTD (hereinafter “Shareride” “we” “our” or “us”).

By accessing and using this website, you hereby agree to be bound by the Terms and Conditions of this Website, the applicable laws (local law inclusive) and regulations. You are prohibited from using this website if you do not agree with any of the Terms and Conditions.

Shareride may, at any time, modify and revise these Terms and Conditions for this website without your consent. By accessing this website, you hereby agree to be bound by such modified and revised version of the Terms and Conditions of this website.

By taking any step to login, register and/or use the services of Shareride, you agree that you have read and accept the Terms and Conditions of this website. You agree also Shareride is not a party to any contract you entered with any member of this website.

In any event, you agree:
    • to provide accurate information required about yourself;
    • not to disclose your password to a third party and contact us in case you lose your password.
  • Verify by providing a telephone number or an identification document.

Verifying process referred to here is specifically for the purpose of completing the registration process.

  • to manage your membership on this website;
  • to provide you with the services and benefits on this platform;
  • to grant access to customer support in resolving any issue reported and respond to you as per the purpose of contacting us;
  • to process bookings and effect payments for services;
  • to enable members on the platform communicate and plan trips;
  • to keep you updated on our events and services;
  • to comply with relevant applicable laws and regulations;
  • to enable us access your level of compliance with our terms and conditions as any use or act that is not in compliance with our terms and conditions may result in suspension of your account;
  • to verify any information contained in your identification documents and driver license that may be collected during the registration or in the course of using this platform;
  • to secure the platform and ensure that the members on the platform are safe;
  • to assess the level of effectiveness of the platform.

Uses of Services

Offering a ride

To offer a ride on this platform, you have to enter a detail plan of your trip. The plan should contain, but not limited to: the time and date for the trip, location to meet with prospective passengers, number of seats offered, amount to be contributed by the passenger, locations where you intend to pick and drop off passengers, etc. You are allowed to offer a ride when you meet the following requirements:

  • You are a licensed driver and holds a driver license and not precluded from driving;
  • You have a car or expressly authorised by owner of a car to use his or her car for the trip.
  • The car has a valid third-party insurance.
  • The vehicle is in good working condition, fit for the purpose of touring and complies with relevant legal requirements.
  • You are physically and medically fit to drive;
  • The vehicle has all safety gadget intact.

You represent that the content of your trip offer is accurate and undertake to fulfil the trip in accordance with the trip plan offered on this platform.

You accept that:

  • your offer will be displayed on our Shareride platform for other members and visitors to see, if it complies with the aforementioned requirements;
  • in the event that your offer does not comply with the terms and conditions, Shareride reserves the right to remove your offer at any time without notifying.

Booking a seat

Shareride reserves the right to determine your eligibility of booking a seat. After a passenger had gone through the available offers to ride and decides to ride with a particular driver, the passenger clicks on “Book Ride” to book a seat. The booking is confirmed automatically.

The above booking procedure shall not be applicable to trips that do not attract any service fee from Shareride. For bookings that do not attract service fee, the applicable procedure is that the telephone number of the passenger or driver (as the case may be) will be sent to the other to arrange the trip. Under this circumstances, Shareride will not be responsible for anything/situation resulting from arrangements and/or trip between the passenger and driver.

Booking a seat is solely for identified member booking the seat.

Members Review/Rating

Shareride operates a review system that allows you, as passenger or driver, rate and make comments about driver (when you are a passenger) or about passenger (when you are a driver) you had a trip with or were supposed to have a trip with.

Your review will be published on this platform for all members and visitors to see. Shareride reserves the right not to publish or remove any review and/or comment that is in violation with this terms and conditions or any other relevant laws and regulations.

Shareride reserves the right to suspend your account when you receive negative ratings and reviews frequently.

Fees and Payments

Access, registration and use of this platform are absolutely free. The only charges under this platform are services fee and the amount for trip as offered by the driver you agreed to contribute for the trip. In order to prevent abuse of overcharging, Shareride reserves the right to adjust the amount asked by a driver for a trip.

On the top of driver asking amount, Shareride charges 18% of service fee per booking made on this platform.

As a driver, you agree that you give Shareride the mandate to collect all funds paid by the passenger(s) for trip on your behalf.

The passenger has 48 hours after a trip to confirm the trip.

You agree that the funds paid by the passenger (less the service fee) shall be paid your bank account or PayPal account (linked to your account on this platform) only when the trip is confirmed by the passenger and payment requested by you as a driver. When you fail to request for your fund after a period of 14 days, the funds shall be deemed to belong to Shareride

Restriction on Purpose of Service

You agree, as a driver, that by using this platform, you are not going to charge for the purpose of making profit; rather your charges shall be based on the cost and expenses of the trip calculated and shared among the seats allotted. Shareride reserves the right to suspend your account when Shareride is of the view that your trips offer are generating profit.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

This policy is applicable to the scheduled trip that attracts the payment of service fee. When a trip is cancelled for whatever reason, a refund of the sum paid by the passenger shall be based on the following rule.

Cancellation by driver

Where a driver cancels the trip, the passenger shall be entitled to the entire sum paid by the said passenger. Under this circumstance the driver is not entitled to payment for the trip.

Cancellation by purchaser

  • If the passenger cancels a booking 24 hours (or more) to the scheduled time of the trip, the amount, as offered by the driver and contributed by the passenger, shall be refunded to the passenger. The service fee shall be retained by Shareride. In this case, the driver shall not be paid any amount for the cancelled booking.
  • If the passenger cancels a booking less than 24 hours to the scheduled time of the trip, half of the amount, as offered by the driver and contributed by the passenger, shall be refunded to the passenger. The service fee shall be retained by Shareride. In this case, the driver shall be paid half of the amount for the cancelled booking.
  • If the passenger cancels a booking after the scheduled time of the trip, the passenger shall not be entitled to any refund.

In the event of cancellation before the departure time, the cancelled seat can be reoffered for booking by another passenger.

Shareride reserves the right to suspend any account for indiscriminate use of the cancellation option.

Undertakings

As a member of the platform, you undertake to:

  • obey relevant rules and regulation;
  • comply with these Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy and any modification amendment in future;
  • complete all transaction on this platform unless when authorised by the Terms and Conditions to deal directly with any member outside this platform;
  • respect other members and travel partner(s);
  • avoid illegal conducts or carry any illegal substance during a trip;
  • open and confine yourself to one account;
  • have all the required permit, licence and documentations required of a driver when you choose to offer a ride.

Suspension and Termination of Accounts

Shareride reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account terminate in accordance with the Terms and Conditions without notice to you. A suspension or termination of your account can be as a result of violation of the terms and conditions and/or privacy policy of this platform. Without the generality of the above, Shareride has the sole discretion to determine whether to suspend or terminate an account.

When your account is suspended by Shareride, Shareride has the sole discretion to decide whether or not to contact you to explain or clarify the reason for the suspension. If you proffer reasonable and acceptable explanations for your actions or inactions, Shareride may, after consideration of your explanations, reactivate your account.

As earlier mentioned, in the course of registration, login and use of our website, we collect your Personal Data in compliance with applicable laws and regulation on Privacy Policy.

Sharing of information collected

  • We share certain information that we collect from you on your profile on this platform so that other members can have access to the information in order to provide you with the services you requested.
  • We share your information including your personal data with our affiliates for the purposes set out herein.
  • We may share your information including your personal data with third parties may be our business partner or subcontractor.
  • We share your information with third parties in the following instances:
    • Where it is necessary to perform our obligation in rendering our services to you;
    • In order to provide process any service requested by you;
    • When it is required by law; to defend a claim; to comply with court order, or to respond to an emergency situation;
    • for the purpose of giving effect to our rating and reviewing system as the rating will include information;
    • in the event of a sale of our assets to a third party, we may share your personal data to the third party acquiring the interest;
    • we may share your part of our website content with our business partners to display on their website, as a result, part of your public profile may be part of our shared content.
  • In accordance with applicable laws and where required with your consent, we may use this information and the combined information for the purposes set out above.
  • We hereby notify you that in the event that you want to share your information using our business partners platform, the business partner’s Privacy Policy may be applicable to you as we do not control the activities going on in the platforms of our business partners.

Modification and Amendment

These terms and conditions constitute the Agreement between you and shareride in respect of the use of the services provided by Shareride. Shareride reserves the right to modify or amend the content of the terms and conditions without your consent, but such modification or amendment may only take effect after it has been published on this platform.

Applicable Law

These terms and conditions are subject to English law. Any dispute arising from your relationship with us shall be submitted to the European Commission for determination and resolution of same. The European Union has the right to reassign and refer any complaint to another body for amicable settlement and resolution of dispute.
